Cipro Package Insert PDF

I have updated this page with the newest Cipro Package insert. The previous text from this page with the package insert from 2009 is below.

Cipro Package Insert 7/2013

The FDA added a warning regarding the possibility of severe permanent nerve damage in 2013 Here is the page with their warning:

FDA requires label changes to warn of risk for possibly permanent nerve damage from antibacterial fluoroquinolone drugs taken by mouth or by injection

Please note that the following package insert is dated 2/09.  This package insert does not carry the newest black box warning for Cipro.

Cipro Package Insert, 2009

The new black box warning is as follows:

Fluoroquinolones, including CIPRO®, are associated with an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture in all ages. This risk is further increased in older patients usually over 60 years of age, in patients taking corticosteroid drugs, and in patients with kidney, heart or lung transplants (see WARNINGS).

Fluoroquinolones, including CIPRO, may exacerbate muscle weakness in persons with myasthenia gravis. Avoid CIPRO in patients with known history of myasthenia gravis (see WARNINGS).
